Medeski, Martin & Wood/Let's Go Everywhere - CD
An album of great family music from three avante/funk jazz musicians par excellence! It's funky, it's fun and great for kids and families. Digipak with lyrics. UPC: 020286111924 CAT: LMR03 TRACKS:
REVIEWS: Let's Go Everywhere is the kind of record that kids-music insiders get all wound up about, and for a reason that can be summed up in two tidy little words: it's awesome. Yes, when classifications must be made, Medeski Martin & Wood are sometimes thrown into the jazz genre. And yes, as musicians go, they're a pretty sophisticated outfit. But that hasn't prevented them from maintaining a direct line with their pirate- and pat-a-cake-loving sides. Everywhere rules because it's un-self-consciously funky ("Cat Creep"), uncondescendingly cool ("Where's The Music"), and unspookily moody ("Far East Sweets"). It's so obviously the product of three guys who know how to grow grooves, but also know how to grow bonds with 4-year-olds, that it makes other kids albums seem audaciously contrived, not to mention intolerably boring. Retentive types won't flinch from filing it alongside classics such as Schoolhouse Rock, Really Rosie, and the Sesame Street compilations. And four out of five preschoolers--maybe more like 499 out of 500--won't disagree: Medeski Martin & Wood merit the inclusion. --Tammy La Gorce, AMAZON.COM

Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine - CD
Part Beach Boys, part Beatles, part retro psychedelic surf album, this children's music debut by Apples in Stereo leader Robert Schneider is playful, tuneful and very child and family friendly. Digipak with comic book. UPC: 020286128427 CAT: LMR04 TRACKS:
REVIEWS: Under the guise of Robbert Bobbert & the Bubble Machine – fronted by his alter ego, "a genius inventor of musical mayhem" – [Robert] Schneider performs the kind of garage-y, surf-tinged psychedelia you’d expect, but with an all-ages twist. With kid-friendly song topics like superheroes and animals, allusions to classic fairy tales and maybe even a little science thrown in for good measure, Robbert Bobbert combines catchy lyrics with nontraditional instrumentation to create an infectious sound that’s fun and easily accessible. ~WIRED.COM
